Rangers punters party in Porto as thousands of fans take over land and sea

It's not a bad life being a football fan.

The thrill of spending the day with your friends watching the team you love is pretty hard to beat, wherever you are, but the chance to watch your heroes in one of Europe's best cities is extra special.

And Rangers fans are certainly making the most of their side's return to prominence in the Europa League judging by the merry band of travelling supporters who have descended on Porto.

Steven Gerrard 's side take on the Primeira Liga big-hitters on Thursday with thousands of Ibrox diehards making their presence felt in the port city ahead of the big game.

And Portugal has certainly been a happy hunting ground in the recent past.

Rangers earned a gritty 1-1 Champions League draw in 2005 and also defeated Sporting Lisbon in 2008 and knocking the same side out on their own patch in 2011.

The visiting light blues have quickly acclimatised themselves with many of them taking to river to enjoy a boat ride before the big one.

Gerrard's men might have to ride some choppy waters in their quest to earn a result but their supporters certainly appear to have plenty of belief.
