Rangers have pulled out of signing PSV winger Couhaib Driouech after an injury was flagged during his medical.
The Moroccan player was set to join on a four-year contract after Rangers agreed a fee in the region of £6.5 million with PSV.
However, the Rangers Review reports that Derek McInnes' side have decided against the move due to his immediate unavailability.
Personal terms with the 24-year-old were settled before the medical issue was discovered. Rangers are now expected to use the funds initially set aside for Driouech to bolster McInnes’ squad before the transfer window closes.
They are closing in on a deal for James Penrice and are making headway in their pursuit of Kevin Kelsy. The need for reinforcements has become more pressing due to injuries to Tuur Rommens and Youssef Chermiti.

After the Europa League match against Jagiellonia, McInnes said: "I do think we’re lacking a cutting edge. Obviously, losing Youssef doesn’t help matters.
"We are looking at a No.9 position as well in terms of trying to get somebody in."
He added: "It’s clear, I’ve been saying since we came in, we’d like to try and get good wingers to the club to try and bring that creativity.
"Because I think a club like Rangers, a team like Rangers, certainly my team, is something that we’d like to try and address."
Driouech had travelled to the UK to attend the Europa League match at Ibrox on Thursday night.
