Alfredo Morelos latest as Rangers 'not believed to be negotiating' with Lille

It's been reported that Rangers are not believed to be negotiating with Lille regarding Alfredo Morelos.

It was reported on Sunday morning that the Colombian had agreed personal terms with Lille, and that a transfer was being negotiated between Rangers and the Ligue 1 side.

French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi this morning tweeted: "Alfredo Morelos has agreed personal terms with Lille. The club is now negotiating with Rangers over a fee."

Sky Sports News later tweeted: "Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Lille and the two clubs are now negotiating a fee for the Colombian international."

In the latest update, Clyde 1 Superscoreboard have tonight tweeted: "We understand there are currently no active negotiations between the clubs."

Morelos has scored 77 goals in 137 games for Rangers since being brought to Ibrox by Pedro Caixinha in 2017.

An injury to his Rangers team-mate Jermain Defoe had already made the acquisition of a striker necessary, with manager Steven Gerrard telling Premier Sports on Saturday: "We are actively looking to strengthen in that area, but as I said last week, we have to be patient and make sure that we get the right one in.

"We can't make a decision just for the short term. We have to think about the big picture, and the long term. We'll only go in for the right name who can help us over the course of 60 games, rather than someone who can help us for the next few weeks."
