Rangers pre-season set for Premier Sports broadcast as club detail friendly plans

Premier Sports will broadcast all of Rangers’ pre-season fixtures, including the tournament in France.

The Ibrox side have announced four fixtures they will play before the start of the Scottish premiership season on August 1, including games already known against Lyon and Nice in France.

Both matches will be exclusively live on Premier Sports while the broadcaster will also show friendlies against Motherwell and Coventry City.

The latter two will also be made available to Rangers season ticket holders via their new streaming site being set up for the new Premiership campaign.

With the games being held behind closed doors, it provides the Ibrox outfit an opportunity to test their new plans for the season ahead.

Premier Sports have also confirmed they will show the first of Rangers’ away games in the Europa League next season.

That tournament is due to start again in September with the current campaign being finished in August.

Steven Gerrard’s men will enter the second round, while they also still need to face Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Gerrard has admitted he’s thrilled with the opportunity to get fixtures in place for the new season, with the two games against Motherwell and Coventry giving his players the chance to experience closed-doors games.

He told the Rangers website: "We are happy to confirm our pre season fixtures which provides a level of certainty going into the next phase of preparations for the beginning of the SPFL season.

“It is pleasing that we have been able to secure high-quality opponents in France which will familiarise us with playing on the continent again in advance of our Europa League tie.

"Furthermore, the fixtures at Ibrox will allow us to test ourselves against British opposition and give us the experience playing behind closed doors.”
