Rangers players reaction to Jordan Jones and George Edmundson revealed as Covid pair 'humbled' on training return

Gary McAllister has revealed Jordan Jones and George Edmundson have been 'humbled' by the Covid incident that has saw them banned for seven games.

The Ibrox pair were caught at a party in the west end of Glasgow and immediately suspended and subject to an investigation from Rangers.

They were then handed a seven match suspension by the SFA for their rule breach and returned to training with the club once their suspension was lifted.

And McAllister admits they have been welcomed back in to training by the club and their team-mates.

He said: "The facts is they’ve come back into the fold.

"You can see they’ve been humbled a touch, absolutely for what it happened.

"They’ve been welcomed back but they won’t be involved at the weekend."

Rangers will ring the changes for the game against Falkirk on Sunday evening but Jones and Edmundson won't be available, with both serving their bans.

And McAllister has backed some of the club's fringe players - such as Cedric Itten, Brandon Barker and Ianis Hagi - to show Steven Gerrard they are ready.

He added: "We are really looking forward to the cup tie, it is a big match for us. We have a big squad and we will field a strong side.

"After the effort against Benfica we would always need to refresh the team for the weekend. The game Sunday is a perfect opportunity for some of the boys to put in a strong performance and for them to show the manager they are ready.

"Coming in and showing tactical awareness and in our shape is important for the boys on Sunday. We know the players at the weekend will come in and show the intent that they are ready to play.

"Everyone is working really hard here to support each other and work for each other. It is a very positive feel around the full building."
