Rangers player ratings v St Mirren as Steven Gerrard's side retain Premiership lead

Rangers will go into the second Old Firm clash of the season with their unbeaten Scottish Premiership run intact after easing to a 2-0 win at St Mirren.

First half strikes from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos sealed a comfortable afternoon for Steven Gerrard's men at the only venue where they had previously failed to win this season.

There was no repeat of the shock Betfred Cup exit that consigned the Ibrox side to their only reverse of the campaign in all competitions before the turn of the year.

It means the gap between the Gers and their Glasgow rivals stays at 16 points before Celtic arrive in Govan on January 2.

Here is how the players rated from the win at the Simple Digital Arena:

Alan McGregor - 7

Recovered well from an early spill, but otherwise had little to do.

James Tavernier - 7

Similar to his battle with Josh Doig of Hibs on Boxing Day up against Brandon Mason, but coped well.

Connor Goldson - 8

Kept Jon Obika under wraps on a comfortable afternoon.

Filip Helander - 8

Solid, much like his central defensive partner

Borna Barisic - 6

Probably did not get as far forward as he would normally like.

Glen Kamara - 7

Retained possession and distributed the ball with ease in the middle of the pitch.

Joe Aribo - 8

Strolled through the contest.

Steven Davis - 7

Another very comfortable performance from the veteran.

Kemar Roofe - 8

Led the line really well and got his goal.

Alfredo Morelos - 8

Vastly improved on recent weeks and finally found the net after eight without a goal.

Ianis Hagi - 7

A quiet afternoon. but not much to criticise.

Subs:

Ryan Kent - 3

Bongani Zungu - 3

Leon Balogun - 3

All had nice touches without enough time to make an impact.
