Rangers concluded a successful Europa League group stage campaign with a point in Lyon.
Scott Wright's deflected effort had the away end up in the Groupama gods in raptures but just moments after the restart the home fans were given cause for celebration when Calvin Bassey turned into his own net.
Ryan Cherki wheeled away but it wasn't heading in before the defender's unfortunate intervention - the third own goal of Gers' group stage campaign.
But after that it was watertight stuff with Bassey and Goldson holding up against Moussa Dembele and later Islam Slimani but it was teenager Tino Kadewere that had the chance of the game late on.
With just seconds of added time remaining Nathan Patterson gave the ball away and the Zimbabwean took over - but his finish was fired straight at Jon McLaughlin.
That fluffed chance delivered an impressive away draw to a side that had won all five of the previous group games - and kept manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst unbeaten after five matches.
Rangers player ratings
JON McLAUGHLIN: Caused some brief concern when he batted the ball back to Lyon while 15 yards off his line but no harm done. Could do nothing about the goal but vital block denied Aouar at the death. 7
NATHAN PATTERSON: Handed just his fifth start of the season but almost wrecked a mature display when he dallied on the ball and let Aouar race through on goal. 6
CONNOR GOLDSON: Almost put his team in trouble by gifting ball to Ekambi but barely put a foot wrong after that as he stood up to Dembele’s physical threat. 7
CALVIN BASSEY: Biggest test yet for the youngster in his new central defensive role. Coped well in his tussles with Dembele but ended up the fall guy with his OG. 6
BORNA BARISIC: Has been looking steadier at the back since new boss took over but hesitated for a moment and paid the price as Cherki’s cross was diverted home by Bassey. 6
GLEN KAMARA : Showed brilliant composure as he sent his marker for a croissant before rolling the ball back for Wright to score the opener. Replaced by Davis at the break. 7
JOHN LUNDSTRAM: Quarter-backed the first half as Gers enjoyed some decent spells. Saw grip on proceedings slacken after the break but made a decent impression on van Bronckhorst. 7

IANIS HAGI: Given a run in his more favoured central role but didn’t make much of an impact before being hooked just after the hour mark. 6
SCOTT WRIGHT: Handed a big chance to impress his new boss and took by firing Rangers in front with help of a deflection. Bright on the ball and did the dirty work too. 8
RYAN KENT: Has taken time to get back up to full fitness after recent hamstring trouble. Bright start before tiring late on. Clever dink set the move which brought the opener into motion. 7
KEMAR ROOFE: Loves a long-range effort in Europe and so unlucky not to add another to his collection with surprise effort which clipped the outside of the post. 7
Substitutes
STEVEN DAVIS (Kamara 45): Rescued the point with his late goal-line clearance. 5
SCOTT ARFIELD (Wright 61): Unable to find the space he thrives on as Lyon bosses the latter stages. 4
JUNINHO BACUNA (Hagi 61): Might have to wait a while for another chance after string of sloppy mistakes. 2
JOE ARIBO (Roofe 73): Couple nice touches but couldn't force home late chance. 3
