Rangers player ratings as Napoli defeat Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men in Champions League

Allan McGregor 6

He could do nothing about any of the goals that the Govan outfit conceded. Made some good saves that kept the scoreline lower than it would have been otherwise.

James Tavernier 5

While the captain didn't make any critical individual errors, it was far from a controlled performance from him. His passing was slack at times, and he was one of the many in the Ibrox side's line-up who were caught out of position on multiple occasions.

Leon King 6

Was a difficult evening for the youngster, who had little support from his central defensive partner.

Ben Davies 5

The Englishman struggled during the 90 minutes. He got caught under the ball for Napoli's second of the night and did little to help the inexperienced King beside him.

Ridvan Yilmaz 7

It was an impressive display from the full-back despite the result. He was impressive defensively and offered plenty in terms of an attacking threat. Signs that he could have a big future at Ibrox.

John Lundstram 6

In the middle of the park, the Englishman battled well and did his best to get on the ball. The midfielder lost his man for the third goal, so will be frustrated with this one.

James Sands 6

Sands struggled with the pace of the game at times. He did have some positive moments, but his passing could have been more accurate at times.

Scott Wright 5

The ex-Aberdeen man was ineffective during the first 45 minutes, apart from one pass into Morelos for his chance just before half-time. He did not return to the field after the break.

Malik Tillman 6

Was a difficult game for the midfielder. He did not get to show his creative attributes and spent most of the game chasing shadows before being subbed.

Ryan Kent 6

The winger had a quiet game. He rarely had the opportunity to run at his opposing full-back. There is no doubt he worked hard during the game but had no real end product.

Alfredo Morelos 5

Near the end of the first half, he had a rare chance, but it was a weak attempt from the forward. The one time he did have a quality cross-played into him, he was unable to make contact with it in the second 45 as he missed what was essentially a sitter.

Substitutes

Fashion Sakala (for Wright, 45) 5

Had a couple of bright spots but dipped out of the game near the end.

Antonio Colak (for Morelos, 65) 4

Had a header he should have done better with late on.

Scott Arfield (for Tillman, 65) 4

Was barely involved in the closing stages.

Borna Barisic (for King, 76) 3

Had no time to make an impact.
