Jack Butland 7
Kept Rangers level at the break with a strong diving stop to deny Oh's penalty effort. Relieved to see earlier Heynan effort strike the post as he was left wrong-footed, routed to his line. A handful of decent stops in the second half, and little he could do as Oh slammed home the winner in the second half.
James Tavernier 5
Denied a penalty after the referee deemed he had pushed Kayembe before the header struck Genk defender's arm. Then penalised, harshly, for a foul to gift visitors a penalty. Was caught out of position for Oh's goal after he had raced forward. Sent in some inviting crosses but no takers. Moved into a back three as Rangers hunted a leveller.
John Souttar 6
Desperately unlucky not to have put Rangers in front in the first half as terrific header was sensationally hooked off the line. Strong in aerial duels all night and stood up to the task as Genk threatened on numerous occasions. A decent overall performance.
Derek Cornelius 6
A cool, composed customer in the Rangers rearguard. Looked very comfortable on the ball and playing out from the back even if it often ended up coming straight back to him. Battled well as he and Souttar were left isolated at times by swashbuckling full-backs.
Jayden Meghoma 5
Escaped early scare as he lost his man by coming far too narrow, in a trend which continued the entire night. Too often was easily beaten by long cross-park balls and did not stop crosses into the box. To his credit, he remained actively looking for the ball and surging forward even when things didn't work at times.
Nico Raskin 6
Rangers are always a better side with the Belgian at the heart of the midfield. A gargantuan effort when Rangers were reduced to ten, but relished the scrappy nature of the game at points. Didn't have as much time on the ball or enough meaningful possession to hurt Genk, as he was reduced to pressing and tackling rather than creating.
Mohamed Diomande 4
Put his team right up against it with a daft red card in stoppage time of the first half. Wildly flew into a challenge on El Ouahdi in the middle of the park and caught the Genk player on his shin. A needless moment of madness when the scores were level before the break. Had done okay until the rash challenge, which changed the dynamic of the game.
Mikey Moore 6
Lively in the opening period as he sent a long-range effort looping not far over the top corner as Rangers pushed for an opener. Drifted into a central role and caused Genk problems in doing so as he was often unmarked but couldn't make a telling contribution from those moments of freedom in the final third. Subbed at the break after red card to Diomande.
Thelo Aasgaard 5
Not a memorable outing for the attacker as he was reduced to a passenger for lengthy spells. Only managed to obtain possession when dropping very deep into his own half to collect off the centre backs. Always looked for the ball but didn't do anything with it in the areas where he could punish Genk. Subbed off with ten minutes left as he looked spent.
Djeidi Gassama 7
A standout for Rangers on a disappointing night. Constantly caused problems for Genk as he raced down the line over and over and fizzed across the box. So close to levelling the scores in the second half, with a low driven strike flashed just wide of the far post. Relentless in his efforts for the entire match and looked the only genuine contender to provide a creative spark and haul his side back into the contest.
Youssef Chermiti 6
A surprise starter being thrown in for his first start in place of the benched Bojan Miovski. Put himself about as the sole striker and had some neat touches of the ball. Limited sight of goal but plenty of endeavour from the £10m forward. Subbed.
Oliver Antman (for Moore, 45) 6
A half-time sub and showed up well for ten-man Rangers. Some creativity in the forward areas and showed legs and desire to do defensive duties.
Joe Rothwell (for Cornelius, 80) 3
Drafted into midfield as Russell Martin rolled the dice to change shape. Wasn't overly effective but equally didn't make any significant mistakes.
Connor Barron (for Aasgaard, 80) 4
Sent a fizzing strike at goal in the closing minutes, which looked to be going in, only to be diverted over the bar by a good clearing header.
Bojan Miovski (for Chermiti, 80) 3
Barely had a sniff in a cameo appearance off the bench.
