Rangers player ratings as Ibrox stars misfire to crash out of Betfred Cup

Here are Rangers' player ratings after they crashed out of the Betfred Cup after a 3-2 defeat to St Mirren.

Rangers player ratings

McGregor

Didn't have much to do, especially in the first half, but dealt with everything that came his way. No chance with any of the three goals. 6

Tavernier

Didn't make his usual impact going forward, but his delivery from set pieces was always a threat. 6

Balogun

The centre-half could have done more to cut out the cross which led to Jamie McGrath's second strike, before suffering a head knock. 4

Goldson

A run and finish Ronaldo would be proud of to open the scoring, the defender can't stop finding the back of the net this season. Will be disappointed with St Mirren's second goal, though. 6

Bassey

Silly foul to give away the penalty and didn't offer much support to Ryan Kent, whether that was on purpose or not. 4

Aribo

Provided plenty of energy from midfield, but there was no quality to match it. 5

Arfield

Quiet evening for the Canadian. Caught out for McGrath's second and hooked early in the second half. 4

Zungu

Solid performance from the summer signing, but nothing spectacular. Didn't protect the back four well enough in the second half. 5

Kent

Rangers' most dangerous player in the first half and was a constant threat down the right hand side, but was quiet after the break. Final ball wasn't there. 6

Roofe

Pressed from the front effectively and was integral in some of the Ibrox side's best moves in the first half. They were just few and far between. 5

Itten

Big chance when his header was cleared off the line at 1-0, but that was his only moment of note. Isolated. 5

Subs

Barisic

On for Bassey to provide more of an attacking threat going forward for Steven Gerrard's men, but didn't make the desired impact. 5

Davis

Tried to regain control of the game for Rangers and it was a brilliant finish to bring his side on level terms. 6

Kamara

On for the last 20 minutes and looked bright, maybe should have been on earlier. 5

Defoe

The striker on with Kamara, but couldn't carve out any opportunities. 3

Hagi

On for the last few moments. 3
