Rangers player ratings as Borna Barisic produces again under Europa League pressure

A nail-biting evening at Ibrox ended with Rangers booking their place in the Europa League last 32.

Steven Gerrard 's side drew 1-1 with Young Boys to ensure they reached the knockout stage as group runners-up.

Alfredo Morelos deservedly opened the scoring in the first-half before a late Borna Barisic own-goal allowed Porto to top the group.

But this was another assured European performance from Rangers who dominated the game for long spells.

Here's how Record Sport's David McCarthy rated the players.

Allan McGregor

Virtually a spectator in the first half apart from a couple of none-too-convincing kick-outs but made stunning stop to deny Fassnacht’s header after the break. 6

James Tavernier

Was his usual attacking threat on the right, linking well with Aribo, but remained wary of the Swiss counter-attack and had more work to do defensively after the break. 7

Connor Goldson

In his usual position at the back and looked completely at ease alongside Katic. Won what he had to in the air and was happy to keep it simple in possession. 6

Nikola Katic

In for the injured Helander for his start since October and showed few signs of rustiness, winning plenty of aerial duals and slotting in alongside Goldson. 7

Borna Barisic

Posed the Swiss problems with his pace and dangerous crosses. Was also diligently defensively until unluckily knocking the ball over his own line in the closing minutes. 8

Scott Arfield

Operated in a slightly withdrawn role on the right, with brief to get forward and tested the keeper on a couple of occasions. Energetic. 7

Ryan Jack

Hardly wasted a pass and was content to sit in the holding role, shutting off space. Sent off for second booking in closing stages. 7

Glen Kamara

Quick and slick, the midfielder linked the play expertly, operating inside Barisic and creating space for the Croatian to exploit. 7

Joe Aribo

Advanced position on the right and produced a superb early cross which Morelos almost converted before going on to have a huge influence, especially in first half. 7

Alfredo Morelos

The Colombian constantly carried the battle to the Swiss and got his reward with a superb opener and could have had another couple. 8

Ryan Kent

Not everything came off for the winger, who was given scope to drift across the pitch, but his contribution to the opening goal was vital. Replaced by Ojo. 6

Sheyi Ojo

On for Kent in the 78th minute. 2
