Rangers player ratings as Alfredo Morelos runs Feyenoord ragged in tireless Europa League display

Rangers opened their Europa League campaign with the perfect result on an emotionally charged occasion at Ibrox.

Sheyi Ojo's first half stunner proved enough to see off Feyenoord as the club paid tribute to Fernando Ricksen.

Following the former captain's death following a long battle with motor neurone disease on Wednesday, Steven Gerrard's side produced a performance for their fans.

James Tavernier missed an early penalty but there was no stopping Ojo's powerful left-footed effort as Rangers swarmed all over their Dutch foes in the first half.

Feyenoord improved after the break and Allan McGregor was forced into some crucial saves as the Light Blues held on for an opening night victory.

Here's how Record Sport 's David McCarthy rated Rangers man-by-man.

Allan McGregor

Crucial early save at his near post and dealt with another couple of efforts before excelling in the closing stages - 8

James Tavernier

Didn’t let the early penalty miss affect his game and was particularly effective in the first half going forward - 7

Connor Goldson

A couple of dodgy passes but commanding in his own box when under pressure - 7

Filip Helander

Looked calm and assured on what was a big night for the Swede at the heart of the defence - 7

Borna Barisic

Played a huge part in the opener by winning a 50-50 in midfield and was solid defensively and in forward areas - 7

Ryan Jack

Covered every blade of grass when Feyenoord had the ball and used it well when in possession - 8

Steven Davis

Used every bit of his experience to calm things down when it was needed but was also so accurate with his passing- 8

Glen Kamara

Mobile across the middle of the park, snapping away in challenges and linking the midfield and attack effectively - 7

Sheyi Ojo

Smashed an unstoppable opener and his pace on the left worried the Dutch all night. Also worked back when needed - 7

Alfredo Morelos

Morelos held the ball up, ran in behind and was a constant menace but not his night in front of goal - 8

Scott Arfield

Unbelievable all-action shift on the right of the front three and came so close to getting the goal he deserved - 8

Subs

Brandon Barker: Straight swap for Ojo in the 72nd minute - 3

Joe Aribo: Got the last seven minutes for Kamara - 2
