Rangers player ratings: Abdallah Sima a handful despite defeat in Cyprus

Jack Butland 6

Once again, the Englishman was let down by the defenders in front of him. He could do nothing about either of the goals conceded and was visibly frustrated with his team-mates. The 30-year-old made a crucial save near the end to keep the game close.

James Tavernier 5

The captain was anonymous for the majority of the fixture as he struggled both defensively and going forward. Leadership was needed in this match and he did not provide that.

Connor Goldson 6

He was weak in the air for the opening goal as he let Alex Moucketou-Moussounda run across him and head home. He did grow into the game though, and played some effective forward passes.

Ben Davies 5

A tough evening for the centre-back who really struggled to get a grip on the game. He looked unsure of himself at times and constantly was on the back foot.

Borna Barisic 5

It was another poor performance from the Croatian. On more than one occasion, he looked well off the pace as he tried to chase down the opposition.

John Lundstram 5

The midfielder was quiet for the majority of the time he was on the pitch. His only real contribution was providing an assist for Abdallah Sima's goal but he did not have much control in the middle of the park

Nicolas Raskin 5

He was making his return from injury and that was evident in his performance as he struggled.

Sam Lammers 5

Another game that the Dutchman struggled to get involved in. His play was quite erratic and it is clear he is an individual struggling for confidence.

Scott Wright 5

It was a tough evening for him. He did not do much of note during his time on the field.

Abdallah Sima 7

The forward was a real bright spark for the visitors in Cyprus. He provided a constant threat with his pace and power. The Senegalese scored the goal, which gave Rangers hope, but unfortunately, not many of his fellow players showed a similar level of fight.

Cyriel Dessers 5

He once again offered very little. The striker had a goal flagged for offside in the first half, but outside of that did not contribute a lot. At times when Steven Davis' side were looking to get up the pitch, he did not join the play well at all.

Substitutes

Kemar Roofe (for Lammers, 66) 4

He had very little opportunities created for him and was left frustrated.

Jose Cifuentes (for Raskin, 66) 4

The midfielder made little impact.

Ross McCausland (for Wright, 83) 3

There was not enough time for the youngster to have any sort of effect on the game.
