SEATTLE _ Third baseman Adrian Beltre is back on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, and the Texas Rangers will again be without their best player for the second time this season and the fourth time in the past two seasons.
Beltre was injured Sunday against the Houston Astros after he fielded a grounder and attempted to tag Yuli Gurriel at third base for a force out. Beltre left the field during a pitching change.
He hit the DL for the first time this season April 25, also because of a strained left hamstring. He was injured as he starting to run out a ball hit into the gap in right-center field and barely reached first base.
Rookie infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa took over for Beltre then and is expected to do so again during this DL stint. Kiner-Falefa started 21 consecutive games as the injury replacement for Rougned Odor, Beltre and Jurickson Profar before Odor returned from the DL on Friday.
The Rangers purchased the Triple A contract of infielder Hanser Alberto to take Beltre's spot on the roster.
