Rangers overcome another bad start to top Twins, 6-5

ARLINGTON, Texas _ The Rangers snapped a two-game losing streak despite another poor outing from their starter, this time Cole Hamels. Texas scored twice in the sixth to top the Twins, 6-5, Friday at Globe Life Park.

Hamels struggled for the second consecutive start and left after 41/3 innings trailing 5-4 in the fifth. The Twins scored five runs on five hits and six walks, which ties Hamels' career high.

Tony Barnette held the Twins to one hit in 22/3 scoreless innings of relief and earned the win. Matt Bush pitched a scoreless eighth before Sam Dyson earned his 18th save with a scoreless ninth.

Texas scored twice in the first after Shin-Soo Choo walked and scored on Rougned Odor's triple to left-center field. Odor scored on Prince Fielder's two-out single to right. In the third, the Rangers had the bases loaded with one out but a strikeout and groundout by Jurickson Profar and Nomar Mazara ruined the rally. In the fourth, run-scoring singles from Choo and Ian Desmond gave the Rangers a 4-2 lead. The Rangers scored two more in the sixth to reclaim a 6-5 lead. Mazara doubled to the left-field corner and Elvis Andrus followed with a triple to the right-field corner. Andrus scored on Bobby Wilson's sacrifice fly.
