Rangers on alert as three Standard Liege players test positive for coronavirus after Europa League clash

Three Standard Liege players have tested positive for coronavirus after their Europa League defeat to Rangers.

Maxime Lestienne, who started against the Light Blues, unused sub Eden Shamir and Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba have contracted the virus.

Rangers will be hoping they have come out unscathed after an impressive 2-0 win against Liege thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe.

Liege said in a statement: "Maxime Lestienne, Eden Shamir and Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba have tested positive for Covid 19.

"Early Friday afternoon, the entire Rouche delegation underwent a Covid 19 test prior to this Sunday's championship meeting at the STVV.

"The results received this Saturday at the beginning of the afternoon indicate that Maxime, Eden and Abdoul are positive.

"The players concerned went directly to quarantine and therefore did not show up for the training scheduled this afternoon at 4 p.m.

"They will not take part in the matches this Sunday at STVV and next Thursday at Benfica."
