Rangers news headlines: Watch Jones' training wonder-goal and Roofe on Gerrard and Bielsa similarities

Here are your Rangers news headlines on the evening of Wednesday, 21 October

Kemar Roofe on Gerrard and Bielsa similarities

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe has been talking about the similarities between Steven Gerrard and Marcelo Bielsa, and attention to detail both managers have.

Roofe worked under Bielsa at Leeds United and he told CFB Football: "The way in which Marcelo Bielsa and Steven Gerrard see the game, it is not let’s line up 11 against 11 and see what happens at the final whistle. It is not like that.

"Everything is thought out and there is a reason behind why we are doing it, actual tactics and we will train a certain way to help us in the next game.

"We will set up a certain way and players will get certain roles and jobs to do for different games so it’s like a game of chess basically.

"It is not always down to who works the hardest running-wise or who is strongest or skillful there is a lot more to it such as formations, positions and how to actually play certain formations.

"There is so much behind it and there is a lot of thought that goes into it."

Watch Jones' training wonder-goal

He might not be a first-team regular at the moment, but Jordan Jones certainly seems to be doing all he can to impress in training.

The wide-man scored an outrageous goal during Rangers' session at Ibrox ahead of their flight out to Belgium earlier today.

Gerrard delighted with shape squad is in

Steven Gerrard says he's happy to have the bulk of his Rangers squad fit and available after some early season injury problems.

Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, Kemar Roofe and Brandon Barker have all missed spells in recent weeks.

However they are all now in full training and ready for selection, with Jack and Barker featuring against Celtic at the weekend.

Standard Liege v Rangers: Steven Gerrard press conference

Aribo and Roofe still need to get up to full speed, but Gerrard is pleased with the way things are going.

He said: "The squad is in a real good place at the moment. We still need to get Kemar [Roofe] and Joe [Aribo] up to speed. Joe's missed ten weeks, and Kemar has missed maybe five.

"They'll take a little bit of time to get back up to 100 per cent but I want to try and get them up to speed as quick as I can.

"The squad is in a real good place in terms of health. Everyone's fit and available. It's only Katic who's not with us at the moment.

"I'm really happy and excited to work with the full group of players because the last couple of months it's been frustrating not being able to pick certain players who are very good players and would've helped us."
