Rangers 'make bid' for Mirko Ivanic with transfer offer 'tempting' for Red Star Belgrade

Rangers have made a bid to sign Red Star Belgrade playmaker Mirko Ivanic, according to a report.

The 27-year-old Montenegro international has impressed for Red Star and Rangers are looking to strengthen before the end of the window.

It’s believed they are closing in on signing Juninho Bacuna from Huddersfield but now reports in Serbia say they’ve made an offer for Ivanic.

Belgrade based outlet Mozzartsport say Red Star have received a ‘tempting offer’ from Rangers of around €3.5m.

But they say the Serbian giants are holding out for around €4m before being willing to sell him.

Steven Gerrard has admitted his side are still looking to sign a midfielder but warned fans they wouldn’t sign too many before the end of the window.

But the report in Serbia suggests Red Star could be forced to sell after failing to reach the Champions League group stage.

Rangers also crashed out of the tournament and are now looking to reach the Europa League groups for the fourth year in a row.

The Ibrox side last signed a player from Red Star Belgrade in 2004 when Dragan Mladenovic joined the club for one season before swiftly returning to Serbia.

The 'Serbian Zidane' made just seven appearances for Rangers.
