Rangers look at three trialists in reserve clash with Cambridge United

Rangers have included three trialists in their reserve squad to face Cambridge United on Tuesday.

The Ibrox second string will contest a friendly at the Hummel Training Centre with a trio of unnamed new faces on the bench.

Glenn Middleton is also involved amid uncertainty over his next move.

The winger was set to go on-loan to Rotherham United but the club’s sudden change of manager has left him in limbo for the time being.

Following his Ibrox return at the weekend, Jamie Murphy is in the starting XI as he continues his long road back from his ACL nightmare.

Teenager Umaro Balde is also on the bench following his arrival earlier this summer from Sporting Lisbon.

Meanwhile, the Ryan Kent transfer saga has taken a new turn as Leeds reportedly stepped up their interest in the winger.

Steven Gerrard is desperate to bring the Liverpool star back to Ibrox for another season but faces a wait to discover what the 22-year-old's next move will be.

He's joined up with Jurgen Klopp's squad for pre-season and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is said to have delayed joining his side's trip to Australia in order to personally scout Kent.

He had a hand in all Liverpool's goals as they defeated Bradford City 3-1 at Valley Parade.

Rangers are understood to have first option on the attacker if Liverpool decide to send him on another loan.
