Rangers loanee Zak Rudden grabs first Plymouth goal after injury-hit start to the season

Highly-rated Rangers youngster Zak Rudden grabbed the first goal of his Plymouth loan spell in the EFL trophy.

The former Falkirk forward is well thought of by Steven Gerrard but struggled on the southwest coast of England with injury in the early stages.

He joined Plymouth in August after picking up a knock on the first day of pre-season with Rangers that stopped the 19-year-old playing in part in friendlies against Oxford, Derby, Marseille and Blackburn.

A move to join the Pilgrims came about with manager Ryan Lowe a good friend of Gerrard but injury problems persisted and he was sent back to Glasgow for treatment.

He returned to Plymouth last week and grabbed his first goal for the club against Swindon Town.

It was a goal that many have come accustomed to watching Rudden as he met a perfectly-weighted cross to head into the back of the net.

Rudden impressed during his season at Falkirk despite the Bairns being relegated.

He grabbed 12 goals in 31 games in the Championship and hit the headlines after a hilarious post-match interview where he claimed: "I'm just here to f***ing get goals".
