Rangers loanee in 'unbelievable' Partick Thistle win statement as he sets high standard demand

Cole McKinnon says Partick Thistle can still improve after the Rangers loanee played his part in a statement victory over Inverness.

The Jags and Highland side are viewed as two promotion candidates in the Scottish Championship this season but Ian McCall's men ran rampant at Firhill on Friday, winning 4-1. McKinnon notched his first assist since joining on loan from Rangers by setting up Brian Graham for Thistle's first goal, the striker adding one more alongside Kevin Holt and Anton Dowds' strikes.

George Oakley scored in stoppage time for Inverness but it was a fantastic nine nonetheless for Partick Thistle, but McKinnon was not fully satisfied. Speaking to JagZone, the Rangers loanee says it was a good response to losing against Queen's Park, but they need to keep clean sheets despite a fantastic victory. He explained: "All the boys are delighted first of all after losing the game 3-2 to Queen's Park last weekend.

"The ambition was to come out and win in front of the fans who turned out in their numbers once again. The boys are delighted and we can't wait to get going again.

"We were gutted to lose the last goal though and it's something that is happening quite a lot just now, conceding from set-plays.

"But to 4-0 up against a great side is unbelievable and hopefully we can grind out games and keep a clean sheet next time."
