Rangers Loanee Glenn Middleton whips home cracking free-kick in Scottish Cup semi-final

On-loan Rangers winger Glenn Middleton provided the pivotal moment for St Johnstone this afternoon, as the Saints reached the Scottish Cup final.

Callum Davidson 's hardworking side managed to see off St Mirren at Hampden in a 2-1 victory, with Chris Kane opening the scoring before Middleton's excellent free-kick just a few minutes later.

Conor McCarthy pulled a goal back with four minutes remaining for St Mirren but St Johnstone held on to reach their second domestic cup final of the season, and it was Middleton's free-kick which proved to be the eventual winner after the youngster had come off the bench as a second-half substitute...

Middleton, 21, has been on loan at McDiarmid Park since January, and could end up staying on a full-time basis with his contract with Rangers set to expire in June.

It remains to be seen whether or not Steven Gerrard and the Rangers hierarchy could see any value in offering Middleton a new deal beyond the summer.
