Rangers loan star could miss League One season start

Morecambe boss Stephen Robinson says he doesn't know if Josh McPake will make the start of the League One kick-off at Ipswich Town this weekend, and needs reinforcements.

The Shrimps won the race to bring the 19-year-old on loan from Rangers, as they prepare to make their debut in the third tier.

But Coatbridge lad McPake suffered a hamstring injury on his debut in a 1-1 friendly draw with Blackpool, and former Motherwell boss Robinson admits he doesn't know when to expect him back.

Robinson told The Visitor: "Josh was out with an ankle injury, so we aren't sure how long he's going to be out for but he's been really good.

"I think we are a bit short in the forward areas for now."

Winger McPake signed a new deal at Ibrox until summer 2024 before heading to Morecambe, where he has a recall option in January.
