Rangers-linked Kenny McLean pens new Norwich deal as he targets "another special season"

Cambuslang midfielder Kenny McLean is targeting a quick-fire return to the Premier League after penning a new deal with Norwich.

The 28-year-old has committed his future to the Canaries as he signed a new deal until June 2023 yesterday.

The Scotland cap had been touted for a move to Rangers this summer but looks set to remain a key figure at Carrow Road after relegation from then top flight last term.

McLean has previously spoken about interest from Glasgow giants before his move south of the border from Aberdeen, and former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd has previously urged Steven Gerrard to snap up the star this summer.

However, the former St Mirren kid told the Norwich website: “The past has been and gone.

"We need to look ahead – I’ve got another three years here and hopefully we can achieve promotion again.

“We’re not going to sit here and say: ‘We hope to do okay’. Stuart [Webber], the boss [Daniel Farke] and the club have been busy bringing in new faces to improve us and they have done that.

“It’s up to us to go and have another special season and go and replicate what we’ve done previously.

"There’s still plenty of faces that were here for 2018-19, so we’ve got that experience. Hopefully we can take that into this year.”
