Rangers line-up vs St Mirren predicted as Steven Gerrard faces Alfredo Morelos dilemma for Celtic

Rangers will be looking to avenge their loss to St Mirren in the Betfred Cup as the two sides meet once again this afternoon.

The Light Blues crashed out of the cup competition as the Buddies came out on top with an impressive 3-2 win.

But the Ibrox side have responded emphatically to that disappointment, keeping their winning run alive in the Premiership and maintaining their lead at the summit.

St Mirren will test Steven Gerrard's men once again, but they'll be fuelled by that defeat the last time they visited Paisley.

There's also the small matter of an Old Firm derby on Saturday and Gerrard will have one eye on that, which could impact his team selection.

Resting key players against St Mirren backfired last time out so don't expect the Rangers manager to rotate his squad as heavily.

At the same time, he'll want to keep his players fresh for derby day. Scott Arfield limped off injured against Hibs on Boxing day and with Ryan Jack still on the sidelines, Gerrard has some decisions to make in the middle of the park.

Alfredo Morelos returned from suspension against Jack Ross' men as a sub and if he is to start against Celtic, he might need some playing time under his belt.

Rangers predicted XI vs St Mirren: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic, Aribo, Davis, Kamara, Hagi, Roofe, Kent.
