Rangers line-up vs Motherwell predicted as Steven Gerrard tells hurt stars to 'step aside'

The Rangers team has picked itself for the majority of the season with Steven Gerrard's side dominating since day one.

The Ibrox boss has been able to rotate his squad with fringe stars filling in with minimal disruption.

But for the first time this campaign, he faces some tough decisions as he looks for a big reaction following their Betfred Cup exit against St Mirren on Wednesday night.

The Light Blues will host Motherwell and they'll be desperate to get back to winnings ways and not let the cup disappointment fester.

Gerrard admitted Rangers players who are feeling sorry for themselves might have to "step aside" against the Steelmen.

He said: "You learn an awful lot about your players every game and I'll be looking extremely close to see who will react in the right way and if anybody is feeling sorry for themselves and want to take this feeling into the weekend.

"Unfortunately, they might have to step aside because we need to bounce back and react in the right way and try and get three points against Motherwell."

It's hard to tell who that could concern exactly and that's something Gerrard will assess on Friday, but what's certain is he'll likely bring first team stars Steven Davis and Borna Barisic back into the fold after making wholesale changes against the Buddies.

Allan McGregor will keep his place in goals with a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Barisic.

Gerrard will deploy a midfield three of Glen Kamara, Scott Arfield and Davis. With Alfredo Morelos suspended, Kemar Roofe will lead the line with Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo on either side.

Rangers predicted XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic, Arfield, Davis, Kamara, Kent, Aribo, Roofe.
