Rangers line-up vs Celtic predicted as Steven Gerrard ditches 'sentimental' approach

Rangers go into Saturday's Old Firm clash knowing a win over Celtic could make the gap between the two sides at the Scottish Premiership's summit impassable.

Victory at Ibrox would widen the gulf to Neil Lennon's men to 19 points - one that would remain in double figures even if the Parkhead side win all three of their games in hand.

Steven Gerrard admitted he had a selection headache over some of his key men, but the Gers boss warned there would be no room for "sentimentality" as he goes in search of what could be a knockout blow in the title race.

Speaking after the win over St Mirren in midweek, he said: We've got good players all fighting for positions. There are good players not getting on the pitch who have been doing well.

"That's the squad you need at Rangers. My job is to pick the team. I don't pick it on sentiment, I pick it on players I think will get the job done.

"I've got tough decisions to make at the weekend but I'm not the first Rangers manager to have tough decisions going into an Old Firm match."

The Gers have a few injury concerns heading into this match, with Scott Arfield currently ruled out for the clash against Celtic. The midfielder was forced off during their win against Hibernian last weekend, having picked up an ankle injury.

Gerrard will also be without Ryan Jack, with the 28-year-old currently nursing a muscle injury, while Nikola Katic continues his period on the sidelines.

Morelos is expected to keep his place up front, after netting in their latest win over St Mirren, however Ryan Kent could make his way back into the starting XI.

It could mean an attacking trifecta of the Colombian international, Kent and Kemar Roofe lining up at Ibrox.

Gerrard has a fairly settled back line, with top scorer James Tavenier and the energetic Borna Barisic either side of Conor Goldson and Filip Helander.

Meanwhile, Steven Davis will likely be the midfield anchor behind Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara.

Rangers predicted XI: McGregor, Barisic, Helander, Goldson, Tavernier, Davis, Kamara, Aribo, Kent, Roofe, Morelos
