Rangers line-up v Aberdeen revealed as Leon Balogun handed debut by Steven Gerrard

The teams are in for this afternoon's Scottish Premiership opener between Aberdeen and Rangers.

Steven Gerrard has handed Leon Balogun his debut in the centre of defence with George Edmundson among the substitutes. Alfredo Morelos leads the line despite transfer speculation surrounding his future.

The Rangers starting XI is as follows: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Barisic, Kamara, Jack, Aribo, Hagi, Kent, Morelos.

Bench: McLaughlin, Bassey, Edmundson, Helander, Murphy, Patterson, Barker, Stewart, Arfield.

Gerrard spoke before the match about the "fierce challenge" he expects to kick off the new campaign.

However he did say that his players would be looking to take advantage of a quiet Pittodrie with the Dons faithful having to cheer their side on from home.
