Rangers line up Francis Amuzu bid as Ibrox side backed to make Anderlecht 'offer they can't refuse'

Rangers face competition from Nottingham Forest as the Ibrox side prepare a move for flying Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu, according to reports in Belgium.

Steven Gerrard has been keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of the summer window and has already run the rule over Fashion Sakala, currently impressing for the Brussels outfit's Pro League rivals Oostende.

However, the Premiership leaders could rekindle their interest in the 21-year-old Belgian youth international after watching him net the third in Anderlecht's 3-0 win over Charleroi on Tuesday.

Belgian football site Voetball 24 reports Gerrard failed in a bid to lure the Ghanaian-born wide man to Glasgow last year, but now states they could return with "an offer that cannot be refused".

Championship side Forest are also believed to be interested in activating his €4 million buy out clause, sources in Ghana suggest.

But Amuzu, a teammate of Gers forward Kemar Roofe last season, may be able to tempt Anderlecht into a repeat of that sale in January.

Voetball 24 states: "The Scottish top club already showed concrete interest in Amuzu last summer, but then got an njet from Anderlecht.

"This time Glasgow Rangers does not want to just let themselves be put away and would make an offer that cannot be refused, because given the financial impasse, the Purple & White cannot afford to ignore such an offer."

The Gers are also reportedly targeting Bournemouth pair Nnamdi Ofoborh and Jack Simpson, though the Cherries are aware of interest from elsewhere in England's second tier.

The duo are out of contract in the summer, but Cardiff City have submitted a £750,000 offer for 24-year-old Simpson in a bid to land him during the winter window.

Meanwhile Charlton Athletic are chasing a deal for Ofoborh, 21, according to The Scottish Sun.
