Rangers lift Veolia Trophy as James Tavernier pictured picking up cup in Lyon

Rangers got their hands on the Veolia Trophy in Lyon with James Tavernier picking up the trophy at the end of the tournament.

The Ibrox skipper will be hoping it's the first of many pieces of silverware he's handling this season ahead of a huge campaign for the club.

Celebrations were naturally kept to a minimum for a pre-season tournament but it still would have been a good experience for a squad that has so far been unable to clinch a domestic trophy under Steven Gerrard.

The Ibrox boss admitted himself that winning the trophy was secondary to getting good performances in, but they'll still be happy with taking it back to Glasgow.

Tavernier was the man who picked up the trophy but he was also joined by young full back Nathan Patterson.

The rest of the players can be seen in the background with Alfredo Morelos sharing a laugh alongside Jermain Defoe as they were showered with confetti from above.

Rangers were the only team to win both games with 2-0 victories against Lyon and Nice.

Goals from Jermain Defoe and Jamie Barjonas sealed the win on Saturday night, after Ianis Hagi and an own goal helped get the victory on Thursday against Lyon.
