Rangers legends will clap for Zoe Smith at game after death aged 36

Ex Rangers players Charlie Miller, Craig Moore, Marvin Andrews, Marco Negri will join Brian Matthews and Stephen Purdon to pay tribute to late Rangers charity supporter Zoe Smith at Sunday's game.

The players in conjunction with the Rangers Charity Foundation will be clapping alongside spectators at Ibrox this Sunday during the Old Firm clash, on the 55th minute of the match.

Oswald's Bar owner and reality star Brian Matthews, who is also a former Rangers Youth Coach decided to try and get the players and fans together to pay a proper tribute to Zoe who sadly passed away after raising thousands for many charities including for the Rangers Charity foundation and in honour of Fernando Ricksen.

Brian said: "Zoe was an incredible girl. I met her at many Rangers functions and home and away games and she became a very very close friend due to her being a regular in Oswalds. She was always there supporting me in everything I did."

He added: "When the staff and I heard she tragically passed away suddenly at just 36 years old we felt we wanted to do something to honour her.

"We've arranged the 55 minute clap at Ibrox and are also in the middle of arranging a tribute night for her to raise money for the charities she supported.

"At the game on Sunday we are unfurling a huge flag with Zoe's face on it in the Copeland Stand before the game and at half time. It's the least we can do."

"One of Zoe's best friend's Robert will be a guest of honour at our night. They were inseparable and we look forward to remembering her with him for years to come."

Charlie Miller told his followers on Twitter: "THIS SUNDAY CLAP FOR ZOE ON THE 55TH MINUTE."

Before every Rangers match and other matches Zoe would take a bag of carrots and polo mints to feed the Police horses and became close with many of the officers from Police Scotland.

They also paid tribute to her and said how sad they were at the news of her death.

We have heard very sad news that one of our biggest fans who we see at most football matches has passed away. Zoe always had a smile & a bag full of treats for our horses.

Polscothorses send our heartfelt condolences to Zoe’s family & friend’s. We will miss you Zoe.
