Rangers legends were heroes of mine, says Shotts boss John McKeown

John McKeown is looking forward to pulling on a shirt and playing against some of his boyhood heroes when his Shotts side take on Rangers Legends at Hannah Park on Friday night.

It’s the rematch to a 2019 fundraiser, when the 2012 Scottish Junior Cup-winning side take on former Ibrox stars including Charlie Miller, Marvin Andrews, Colin Hendry and Alex Rae, with Chris’ House and St Andrew’s Hospice benefiting.

McKeown joked that he’ll be lucky to get on the pitch, but is looking forward to it.

He said: “We’ll see how long my body holds up, especially my hips, but I’m going to take part in the Legends game at Hannah Park.

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s for a good cause, and the last time they did it there were a good couple of thousand there.

“Hopefully they get as good a turn-out, and can raise some good money for important charities.

“It brings the whole community together, it’s an enjoyable evening and I’m playing against some of my former heroes.

“I was a Rangers fan growing up, so the last time it was good to play against these guys and I’m looking forward to it again this weekend."
