Rangers legend recalls time fan gave him pelters minutes after nine-in-a-row flag was unfurled

It's fair to say Rangers fans were spoiled in the 1990s as the Ibrox outfit racked up one trophy after another.

There wasn't much to moan about in a decade that brought two trebles and, of course, a record equalling nine consecutive league titles.

But former Gers no2 Archie Knox has revealed how some supporters were almost impossible to please.

During a talk in Irvine, Ayrshire last week, he fondly recalled the time one furious fan gave him dogs abuse just minutes after the flag was unfurled for nine-in-a-row.

Knox said: "After we unfurled the nine in a row flag, you're happy with that.

"But 17 minutes into the game, it's 0-0 and I hear, 'Hey Knox, hey Knox'.

"So I turned round and says, 'Aye what is it?'

"The boy looks out on to the park and says: "This is f***** sh*** by the way".

"Brilliant!"

Not even a seven goal victory was enough to appease some Bears.

Knox added: "I can remember we beat Hibs 7-0 at Ibrox.

"I used to try and come out with Ally McCoist because we parked along in the school around the road.

"If you came out with him the fans would all be round McCoist for the autographs and I would get away.

"So I'm running along the central reservation trying to get to my car and I hear this shout 'Hey Knox'

"I turn around and there's this guy, maybe in his 50s, running along the road.

"He's pointing at me and at the park and he says: "That's f**** ridiculous the day, you allowing them to take their foot off the pedal, that should have been 10 or 11."
