Rangers legend Nacho Novo 'attacked by thug in Glasgow nightclub'

Former Rangers player Nacho Novo has been reportedly attacked by a thug during a night out in Glasgow.

The 40-year-old was understood to be out partying at the SWG3 night club in the west end area of the city when he was set upon by a yob last night.

It's believed he was attending the STREETrave 30's summer party when the incident took place just before 10pm.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the venue with one clubber saying the ex-frontman was being treated by first aid.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland told the Record: "We responded to a possible disturbance.

"When we arrived there was nothing ongoing."

A spokesperson for SWG3 said: "We can confirm an incident took place and that Police Scotland were on site. The issue was dealt with promptly and no further action will be taken.

"As a venue, anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and the safety of our patrons always comes first."

It's not the first time Novo has been subjected to abuse while out and about.

In August last year he was branded a "p****" while in a shopping centre in East Kilbride.

His then girlfriend Stephanie Heany blasted the yob for hurling abuse at the former professional footballer.

At the time she said on Facebook: "Ok so I am beyond disgusted and angry walking in East Kilbride shopping centre 5 mins ago and a big heavy guy with his wife and child walks past Nacho and myself and calls Nacho a p***k so loudly Nacho heard.

"Nacho turns back and confronted the guy and he starts screaming and shouting all sorts of abusive comments to us!!!

"His wife nearly died of embarrassment what the hell is up with people disgusting way to behave regardless of being a Celtic fan or not totally disgusting.

"Shopping and getting abuse hurled at us I'm actually shaking with anger!"

Earlier in 2018, the former Dundee player suffered a heart attack after collapsing at a legends’ tournament in Germany.
