Rangers legend Mark Hateley pulls no punches in brand new autobiography

Mark Hateley took no prisoners during an illustrious playing career - and the Rangers legend pulls no punches in his new hard-hitting autobiography.

The former England International enjoyed a trophy-laden five-year spell at Ibrox, winning 11 major honours following his £1 million move from Monaco in 1990.

Hateley scored a memorable double against Aberdeen in a final day shoot-out on the final day of his first season to win the title for the Light Blues.

He was also a key member of Walter Smith’s treble-winning side in 1992/93 that also came within a whisker of reaching the inaugural Champions League final.

Hateley previously starred for Italian giants AC Milan who he joined from Portsmouth and also won 32 caps for the Three Lions.

Born into a football family - his father Tony played for Aston Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea – Mark was destined to forge a career in the game.

After starting out with Coventry City, he spent a year at Portsmouth before earning that lucrative move to the San Siro.

A fearsome, all-action centre forward with an eye for goal, Hateley immediately endeared himself to the fans of the Rosseneri when he scored the winning goal in the Milan derby against Inter.

Still revered by the infamous Curva Sud today, he left Milan in 1987 and joined Monaco where he was signed by former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

He scored 14 league goals and won the French Ligue 1 title in his debut season, but two serious ankle injuries ruled him out of the game for the best part of a year before his move to Glasgow.

After hanging up his boots he had a stint in management with Hull City and later moved into the media as a Record Sport columnist and now the 59-year-old is recalling his career in an explosive, no-holds-barred autobiography.
