Rangers legend Ian Durrant unveiled as assistant manager of Scots non-league side

Rangers legend Ian Durrant has been appointed assistant manager of Ayrshire non-league side Kilwinning Rangers.

The Ibrox icon comes in as No2 to former Ayr United ace Chris Aitken who was was unveiled as the West of Scotland League club's new manager last Friday.

The duo previously worked together as part of the management team at Lowland League outfit East Kilbride.

Former Kilbirnie Ladeside and Greenock Juniors coach Owen Archdeacon completes Kilwinning's new backroom staff.

Aitken told the club's youtube channel: "I don't think I need to say too much about Ian Durrant. He's been with me now for the last three years.

"I've always said to him he's my mentor. He's the one that's going to keep me right because if you can't feed off Ian Durrant's experience you shouldn't be in the game.

"Owen Archdeacon is a bit different. His coaching is just starting out.

"I've known Owen all my life. We had a really good chat and he says he was delighted to get the opportunity to come in and work, not just with me, but the likes of Ian Durrant."
