Rangers legend Graeme Souness wants Ibrox 'boardroom role' as TV host teases Dave King question

Graeme Souness "fancies" a return to Rangers to take up a boardroom role at the club.

That's according to TV host David Tanner, who hosted an event with the former Light Blues manager and player last month.

Dave King resigned as Rangers chairman on Friday as Douglas Park took up the new interim position.

And Tanner says the former Liverpool defender would be open to an "advisory" role behind the scenes at Ibrox.

The former Sky Sports presenter even floated around the idea of him being King's long-term successor.

He said: "I interviewed Graeme Souness at an event this month.

"When I asked if he’d return to Ibrox, he gave a lot of thought and said he’d fancy an advisory board-type role.

"Would fans like him as chairman?"

Souness is a Rangers fan favourite after his success as both player and a manager.

The 66-year-old has also been in contact with Steven Gerrard since he took the reins at Ibrox.
