Rangers legend Gazza to continue on Italy's I'm a Celeb despite shoulder injury

Ex Rangers star Paul Gascoigne plans to continue on Celebrity Island despite being hospitalised with a shoulder injury.

Gazza was jetted to hospital from Italian reality series Celebrity Island or L'Isola dei Famosi, as it's known in Italian.

Gazza hurt himself during an assault course on the show last week and was flown hospital as he winced and held his arm in pain.

Although his arm is now in a sling a determined Gazza spoke from his bedroom saying: "I’m doing ok. The shoulder is so so but I hope to return."

Telly host Massimiliano Rosolino told fans of the show: "Paul is doing well, he's doing very well.

"He's wearing a brace on his shoulder and I have been to see him.

"I asked him if he wants to return and he nodded his head, so yes he wants to come back but we are not sure when."

There are obvious insurance implications if Gazza returns to the show and there were rumours he may have to pull out.

A friend of Paul's told The Sun : "He's dislocated his shoulder. It's such a shame as he was doing so well.

"He's resting while the medical team check him out. The producers are very concerned.

"He may be pulled out. There are insurance issues as well for them to consider."

Gazza had promised to donate any winnings from the show to a charity to honour his late nephew Jay Lennon Gascoigne who died of an overdose aged 22 in 2016."

He told Italian magazine TV Sorrisi e Canzone: "If I win, I will give the prize money to a charity founded by my family in memory of my nephew."
