Rangers legend Gazza filmed singing foul-mouthed sectarian rant in Benidorm's Ibrox Bar

has been filmed in a boozy Benidorm bar joining in a foul-mouthed sectarian chant surrounded by fans.

The Ibrox, England and Tottenham legend - who has battled alcohol addiction for years - appeared at the Spanish resort on Saturday.

A clip shared on the Ibrox Bar's Facebook page showed the iconic striker in the venue - named after Rangers’ stadium - after arriving at the £18-a-ticket ‘Sash Bash with Gazza’ event surrounded by shirtless fans.

They are filmed serenading him with a sectarian version of Tina Turner’s ‘Simply The Best’, chanting against the Pope and the IRA .

Fans sang: “I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire. F*** the Pope and the IRA.

“You come to me, come to me wild and wired. F*** the Pope and the IRA.”

Gascoigne - clad in a floral blue T-shirt - can be seen mouthing the offensive lyrics and smiling.

The retired midfielder is seen clutching a bottle of water but others in the video are drinking alcohol in front him despite his booze demons.

The football star snapped selfies with boozing supporters, while signs at the bar boasted of ‘Buckets, Jugs and Shots’ deals.

Benidorm is a popular resort with Brits due to the nightlife and cheap alcohol.

Fans questioned whether the recovering alcoholic should be appearing at meet and greets in pubs surrounded by drinking fans.

Rosemary Crawford commented on Facebook: “Not the best place for an alcoholic to take a holiday.”

Jaap Fluit just wrote: “Sad.”

While Maria Turner McAnee added: “No need for the (sic) sectarian song.

“Some people will never move on.”

Gazza is set to appear at another event called ‘An Evening with Paul Gascoigne’ at the four-star Marina Hotel tomorrow/on Tuesday.

Tickets are currently on sale for £44 but event website Round Town Travel boasts that VIP tickets are on sale £75 which include booze.

These include a “cava reception, meet and greet, framed photograph with Gazza, front row seats and after-party.”

On Twitter, football fans blasted Gazza’s manager Shane Whitfield who organised the trip.

Sean Powell wrote: “Is that a good idea? Come on mate everyone knows he needs help and you (sic) bring him there.”

Newcastle fan Matt said: “I hope you aren't encouraging the legend to drink, which you know has destroyed his life …”

Gazza has also uploaded videos on social media of him appearing to skinny-dip and fishing in his swimming pool.

Shane Whitfield has been contacted for comment.
