Rangers legend and St Roch's boss to be remembered by Cambuslang Rangers this weekend

Cambuslang Rangers will remember the lives of Rangers icon Walter Smith and St Roch's manager Paul Kelly prior to this Saturday's West of Scotland Football League game against Ashfield.

Smith passed away at the age of 73 last month, well-known in Scottish football most notably for his achievements as Rangers and Scotland boss.

He was a supporter of Cambuslang Rangers - where former goalkeeper Andy Goram is a coach - and Smith also featured for Ashfield as a player.

Kelly's passing was announced prior to St Roch's Conference C match with East Kilbride Thistle - which has been postponed. He was formerly a player at Camby and is Ashfield's ex-manager.

Ahead of Cambuslang's Conference B clash this weekend, a statement reads: "This Saturday we will pay our respects to former Cambuslang Rangers player and Ashfield manager, Paul Kelly.

"We ask that all supporters in attendance join us as both clubs observe a minute's silence prior to kick off.

"The clubs will hold an additional minutes silence after the recent passing of former Cambuslang Rangers supporter and Ashfield player, Walter Smith after he was recently laid to rest."

The West of Scotland Football League have since asked for a minute of applause to commemorate Kelly's life, at the request of his family.
