Rangers legend Ally McCoist puts 'diddy' Jamie O'Hara in his place over Steven Gerrard comments

Ally McCoist has responded with bemusement to Jamie O'Hara's comments comparing Rangers and Bournemouth.

With Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard having been linked with a move to Bournemouth, Billericay Town boss O'Hara told talkSPORT on Monday that: "I wouldn’t want to disrespect the Rangers people because they are a huge football club but it’s a bigger job to potentially be the Bournemouth manager.

"Rangers are a huge, huge football club but for me there’s only two teams in Scotland.

"Bournemouth is the potential - they’ve just dropped out of the Premier League - to get them back into the Premier League.

"They are a higher profile football team.

"I would take the Bournemouth job, it’s a bigger job."

Rangers legend McCoist was thoroughly unimpressed. Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, he said: "Before we go any further, if ever there was a case for a talkSPORT broadcaster to be breathalysed and drug tested in the same movement for having an opinion as stupid as that, yesterday was that particular occasion.

"In all seriousness, I'm all for everybody having an opinion, unless it's Jamie O'Hara talking about Rangers and Bournemouth.

"Have you ever heard anything as ridiculous in your life? The Billericay Town manager trying to work out who the biggest club is between Rangers and Bournemouth.

"Holy moly guacamole would ye? I never heard it, but as soon as he opened his mouth my phone started bleeping. All the boys saying 'What about this diddy?'.

"I was going to go right above Jamie's head, just phone the bosses and say certainly a public apology of some description should be made the following day."

Billericay Town play in the National League South, English football's sixth tier. Gerrard's next match as Rangers boss is on Thursday when they take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.
