Rangers legend Ally McCoist places relegation bet as he fillets SPFL with 'chocolate biscuit' analogy

Rangers legend Ally McCoist predicts NO teams will be relegated after the SPFL's controversial resolution was voted through.

Dundee's belated ballot confirmed the end of the lower league season - relegating Partick Thistle and Stranraer while crowning Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers champions.

The decision opens the door for the Premiership to follow suit but the SPFL announced on Wednesday night that league reconstruction talks are set to take place.

Hearts owner Ann Budge, whose club faces the drop, and Hamilton's Les Gray will head a taskforce that may lead to a major top-flight revamp.

But McCoist maintains there'll be no relegations when it's all said and done.

He told talkSPORT: "In theory, Partick Thistle will go down, who have a game in hand - the same kind of situation as Aston Villa.

"The game in hand would take them out of the relegation zone.

"But listen, mark my words - if I could get a bet on no relegation and league reconstruction, just to soothe everybody, that is going to happen. I'll tell you right now.

"They've got their vote through, so they'll now try and soften the clubs getting relegated - Partick Thistle, Hearts and Stranraer.

"There'll be no relegation, they'll work it that way to try and keep everybody happy.

"They've awarded to Dundee United, Cove Rangers and Raith Rovers."

Rangers have called for an independent investigation into the voting process - which crucially saw Dundee flip flop from no to yes - while Thistle have published QC's advice questioning its legality.

However, Record Sport understands only an internal investigation is currently in the pipeline.

That left McCoist exasperated, as he compared that scenario to his son Harris marking his own homework and awarding himself a chocolate biscuit.

He added: "But the best of it is, a lot of people have called for an independent inquiry into the SPFL.

"But they've come out and said they're going to have an internal investigation - you couldn't make it up.

"You know the best way to describe it? It's like my wee Harris marking his own homework.

"Not only will he pass it, I bet he awards himself a chocolate biscuit.

"It's absolutely embarrassing, it really is. It's shocking."
