Rangers legend Ally McCoist pays tribute to Tom Forsyth

Ally McCoist has paid tribute to former Rangers and Scotland defender Tom Forsyth after he passed away on Friday.

Forsyth made 326 appearances in his 10 years at Ibrox after joining from Motherwell, and accumulated 22 caps for Scotland.

He won three league titles, four Scottish Cups and two League Cups during his time at Ibrox.

In a post on Instagram, Ally McCoist paid tribute to Forsyth and shared a photo of himself with Rangers legends Forsyth, Colin Jackson and Sandy Jardine.

He said: "Extremely sad news last night as we learned of the passing of Tam Forsyth, another Rangers legend.

"This picture really does fill me with emotion now - three great men on the right no longer with us. What I can say about all three in common - Sandy, Colin and Tam - is that they were each there for me during the club’s toughest times, knocking on my door for a cup of tea and chat which was always appreciated and a great source of support for me. Says it all about the quality of the men they were.

"As for Tam, he could play a bit too. The first Rangers Celtic game I attended he scored the winner in the Scottish Cup Final (I was one of 120,000+ there that day by the way!).

"Then the first England game I attended we won 2-1 and it featured THAT tackle on Mick Channon (small crowd that day - just the 85,000!). "Brilliant memories from another great man and good friend who will be sorely missed. Love and thoughts to his family and close friends from all the McCoists."
