Rangers legend Ally McCoist offered chance to become a trawlerman in reality TV show

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has been offered the chance to become a trawlerman for a new television series.

The former Ibrox player and manager revealed producers want him to take to the high seas for a reality show that would see McCoist and other celebs spending a week on a fishing boat learning the trade.

The 59-year-old is a keen fisherman said he is unsure if he has the stomach to take on the challenge.

He said: “I think it would be great if it was only for a day but they want me to go away on this fishing boat for a week.

“I enjoy my fishing but I’m not sure I could go away on a boat for six or seven days.

“I mean that’s serious graft and it’s dangerous. I haven’t said yes yet. I think maybe five or six years ago I would have been right up for it but I don’t know if I fancy those waves crashing in at four in the morning.”

Last year McCoist travelled to Patagonia with friends to fish for the rare golden dorado, a prized game fish.

He later told how he had to dodge piranhas and alligators during the trip.
