Rangers legend Ally McCoist demands scrutiny on attempted Dundee deals as he doubles down on SPFL blast

Ally McCoist has demanded scrutiny on Dundee chief John Nelms attempting to offer sweetheart deals to rival clubs following his SPFL voting u-turn.

Record Sport exclusively revealed on Monday night that managing director Nelms is now set to back the league's plan in a remarkable reversal.

And we told how an e-mail sent from one SPFL chief-executive to another outlines the American businessman's controversial dealings, including the carrot of a friendly against one of Scottish football's "big hitters" and prize money redistribution.

Friday's vote on ending the lower league seasons as things stand - which could then greenlight the Premiership to follow suit - descended into farce when league bosses insisted they did not receive Dundee's "no" vote, despite club secretary Eric Drysdale submitting it shortly before 5pm.

It led to claims an IT issue had caused confusion and left the proposal - plus the vital release of funds - in limbo.

And Rangers icon McCoist has now launched another tirade over the "shambles" the following a similar rant on Monday.

He told talkSPORT: "I'm reading in the Scottish press that Dundee - who cast their vote and rejected the proposal - are now thinking of changing their mind.

"Now, for some reason, it wasn't registered in time at the SPFL. Seemingly, they had a problem with their IT system.

"Now, I just wonder - and call me an old cynic - why Dundee are changing their mind?

"I'm reading in one of the papers they've been offered high profile friendlies against Premiership teams, and they've also been subjected to lobbying from other clubs.

"Well, let's ask the question - who's offered them high profile friendlies?

"Let's find out, ask the question. It's an absolute shambles.

"It's a can of worms and it's an ongoing debacle"

McCoist continued: "I said it yesterday, it's the Cartoon Network in there, it really is.

"It's a shambles. You talk about people shooting themselves in the foot - it's embarrassment, it really, really is.

"I reiterate what I said, there are far, far greater issues going on in this world but the comedy show that is the SPFL keeps on rolling along."
