Rangers leave Lech Poznan unimpressed as Polish star delivers 'not nearly as strong' verdict on Steven Gerrard's men

Tymoteusz Puchacz insists Rangers aren't a match for Benfica and insists Lech Poznan should have won at Ibrox.

The Polish left back didn't find Rangers particularly impressive as his side crashed to a 1-0 defeat.

Alfredo Morelos got the only goal of the game to make it 21 European goals and match Ally McCoist's European record for the club.

But Puchacz laid into the Ibrox side and insisted Benfica are way above Steven Gerrard's men in terms of quality.

He said: "I knew right from the start of this game that one goal would be enough because there were hardly any clear chances.

"Even Rangers' goal wasn't a clear chance really.

"Rangers are not nearly as strong a team as Benfica or have their quality. They are certainly not unbeatable and in fact, we should have drawn or even won.

"Unfortunately, no one will remember how well we played and they will only look at the result.

"Rangers defended as a unit and after they scored, retreated completely and only played on the counter-attack.

"We have played some nice football, but we didn't manage to score and again have picked up no points. It means next week's game against Standard Liege is very important to us."
