Rangers have been drawn against St Mirren in the second round of the Premier Sports Cup.

The Light Blues learned their opponents earlier this afternoon in the aftermath of the Buddies' 1-0 defeat at home against Dunfermline Athletic.

St Mirren won their group and will be buoyant despite their loss at the SMiSA Stadium which will present its own challenge to Rangers who will hope to make the third round.

The tie is to be played the weekend of August 15/16 and will take place at Ibrox.

Gers saw off Alloa Athletic and Hibernian last season before narrowly losing out to Celtic after extra-time at the semi-final stage.

Derek McInnes' side are currently in action against West Ham in front of a home crowd as they continue their pre-season preparations.

They kick off their Premiership campaign away to Dundee United on Friday evening.

Draw in full:

Dunfermline vs Ross County

Hearts vs Inverness

Hibs vs Partick Thistle

Kilmarnock vs Ayr United
