Rangers learn potential Champions League play-off opponents

Rangers' potential Champions League play-off opponents have been revealed.

The Ibrox side will take on either Salzburg or Club Brugge for a place in the league phase of European football's premier club competition, should they get past Viktoria Plzen in the third qualifying round.

The first leg of their prospective play-off will take place on the midweek of 19/20 August, with the return tie coming a week later, on August 26/27. Rangers will be at home first.

Rangers must beat Plzen in order to face either Salzburg or Club Brugge. They take on the Czech outfit in the first leg of their third-round qualifier tomorrow evening at Ibrox.

If they lose to Plzen, they will drop straight into the league phase of the Europa League. The same fact remains if they beat Plzen and lose their Champions League play-off.

On the domestic front, [[Rangers]] started the season with a 1-1 draw against Motherwell on Saturday evening. Emmanuel Longelo's late leveller cancelled out James Tavernier's first-half opener.

Martin will be hoping for a response from his side in Europe tomorrow evening.
