Rangers launch appeal against SFA fine as Stewart Robertson blasts disciplinary process

Rangers chief Stewart Robertson insists the SFA must change their disciplinary process as he confirmed the club will appeal their £15k fine.

The Ibrox club were punished after incidents involving players and coaching staff in games against Hibs and Celtic at the end of 2019.

Ryan Kent's celebration against Celtic as well as Alfredo Morelos' gesture as he left the field were part of it, as were Tom Culshaw and Michael Beale's red cards.

Beale was handed a five game ban - with two suspended - for the bust-up with Celtic coach John Kennedy and referee Kevin Clancy following his sending off.

But Robertson clearly isn't willing to accept the fine and said: "We feel there are still severe flaws in the disciplinary process.

"There's been a lot of lobbying going on in the background for changes and it's good to see other clubs are joining".

For the incident at Hibs a fine of £5,000 was imposed with £3000 immediate and £2000 suspended until the end of the season.

The Celtic charge brought a £10,000 fine, with £7000 immediate and £3000 suspended.

Rangers were charged under disciplinary rule 204, which states a club must ensure that all players and staff "conduct themselves in an orderly fashion at all times during and/or after a match".
