Rangers kid Jordan Houston bids emotional farewell to Ibrox after leaving for Ayr United

Rangers full back Jordan Houston has paid tribute to the club and its fans after agreeing a deal to leave Ibrox after 13 years.

The 19-year-old today signed a two year deal with Championship side Ayr United, where he has been on loan since August.

Ayr, who will pay an undisclosed fee as part of the deal, have landed a coup in bagging Houston on a long term contract.

Speaking on Twitter tonight, Houston admitted it was a wrench to leave Ibrox after so long.

He said: "After almost 13 years at my boyhood club, I have made the decision to move on and further my career.

"This decision has not been a light one - those who know me know Rangers has been my life since day one, and always will be.

"To make my professional debut at Rangers Football Club is an honour few can say, and a memory that I will treasure forever.

"I am thankful to the coaches and staff who have helped me develop into the person I am - both inside and out of football.

"Since joining Ayr United, I have relished becoming a regular first team player - I am excited to commit my future to the club.

"I wish Rangers the very best."

Ayr boss Mark Kerr added: "As soon as we knew there was a chance we could get Jordan for longer there was no doubt in our minds.

"We are always thinking about longer term and building plans and Jordan is very much part of that.

"He works hard, is powerful and has real pace.

"Jordan has had an excellent grounding coming through the youth system at Rangers so he doesn’t have many bad habits."
